The built-in worksheet helps in planning events, tracking the status reports and in find missing client data in a returns file. An online client portal allows the clients to submit their tax details in an organized manner. The solution also allows users to create interactive financial presentations for their clients with appealing charts, graphs and financial tables.
The chat option enables users to communicate with their clients in real-time. Tax professionals can also attach PDFs to Federal and State e-filed returns. The solution seamlessly integrates with various accounting software such as QuickBooks, Quicken and TXF to import financial data directly into ProSeries.
CPA who enjoys using ProSeries Tax Overall I've been happy with ProSeries Tax. The price may be high for some but in my opinion you get what you pay for. It allows me to send tax returns electronically and I also can send clients pdf copies of their returns. Pros Been using it for 5 years and the ease of finding things and rolling over information year over year is great. Cons Sometimes, it may be hard to find helpful information, but I've learned that you need to be precise with the words so information comes up. Great software for a small business without an accountant Pros A small business sometimes cant afford accountants. This software gives you a solid platform to fully gain the benefits and tax deductions a small business deserves.
Easy user friendly interface. Easily see what you've earned. What was deductible, and get more of your money back at the end of the year.
Cons Obviously price is always a concern but after using this software and seeing how much I could write off I realized the price was worth it. Intuit Proseries Tax Overall very good tax software for the price, easy to use and do what is most important but if you are looking for a software to tackle significant multi state returns, then I would look elsewhere especially if there any special allocations.
Pros The software is extremely easy to use, my first day at my job I was able to begin working on tax returns and was able to identify where the forms are, tax information needs entered, and check for errors in entries. Cons The software does not have great quality when dealing with multi-state tax returns, we have looked into bringing in another software because multi state is a challenge. I've been using ProSeries for 10+ years. And I have foreign clients. If you have foreign-based tax clients, or domestic clients with foreign earned income, Proseries works flawlessly. If you prefer a forms-based software, Proseries is the best, with little-to-no jumping around to various screens. Pros - Input: It works well as forms-based, unlike other 'forms-based input' programs who have a pop-up window saying, 'you can't information here, go to the.'
Proseries has worksheets built into the actual forms (Schedule B, C, etc.) - Very easy to work with. Foreign: Works well with Preparers who have a foreign address (me) AND Clients with foreign addresses (all my clients). Whoever wrote that it won't, well, they don't know what they are talking about. Foreign income flows to the 1040 simply by checking a box, rather than having to fill out a 'substitute W-2' like most other tax software. No need to fill out a 1099 for interest or dividend income, like most other software.
Proseries has a simple worksheet within the schedule B form. (Foreign clients do not receive US government forms like the 1099s or W-2s.) - ProSeries works extremely well for professionals who understand tax. (I can't speak for newbies who have no idea what form goes with what income/expense/etc., and don't really understand how everything flows to the actual return.) - Foreign Reporting: FBAR. E-filing of the Form 114 (FBAR) is within each tax client and is e-filed with the 1040 and states.
All returns, including states and the FBAR are in the homebase and in the e-file center. Cons - PRICE! - The Online version is not as good as the desktop version. Small complaint: The Form 1116 explanation isn't self-populating (Foreign Tax reduction). Small complaint: Not being able to open more than one return at a time, such as when working with 8615 or an 8854 (dual status return/statement).
Small complaint: Form 8938 not populating Treasury form 114 (FBAR) or vice versa. Excellent integration with our existing quickbooks setup, familiar interface We've used some of Intuit's other online tax software for our business previously, prior to expanding somewhat last year. We found their interface very simple and straightforward to use. We took up the trial version of Intuit ProSeries after a recommendation, to see how we can expand and make our tax work much more efficient with our increased workload this year. Pros Familiarity of the interface and easy to use tools and integration with our existing quickbooks setup made the entire process far more pleasurable and stress free.
Also, the most useful aspect so far (out of many!) is the client missing data tool. We've had issues in the past so it was a welcome addition to our workset. Cons So far, none as we have used Intuit before, and as for price, we are currently only starting with the trial version so that has not been an issue. Works as intended but not the best value for money Pros I've used a number of Intuit products and the good thing about it is the fact that they do a good job integrating their various software. This reduces the need to constantly transfer data, which saves time! Cons The biggest issue is the pricing. Intuit has a wide ranging spectrum of software.
It would be MUCH better if things weren't so fragmented. For example if I'm using QuickBooks for payroll and and using Intuit Pro Series, I find myself paying for two different softwares. Good features but not so economical. NON-COMPLEX AND EASY TAX PREP SOFTWARE Pros The simplicity of Intuit’s interface is one of the reasons why I chose Intuit. It provided simple and easy features that anyone can learn. The document scanning allows a paperless documentation which is a great plus to any software, allows efficient e-filing.
It is a very useful software. Cons The worksheets are very limited, especially during tax season. Also, tech support responds slowly to any reported problems, but once they respond, they really get into the problem and will try to figure out the problem. Great Tax Program I have been working with this program for a few years preparing tax returns. Pros This software is very informative and functional. It’s a professional program for professional tax preparers.
I like it because you don’t have to guess where to plug in your numbers, the program has prompts to help you. It’s easy to navigate and easy to find the forms that you need. Cons I must admit that it takes a few practice rounds to be able to locate all the forms you need quickly. The online help is always there but it’s you still have to have some general tax prep knowledge to use this software.
A good option, still has some kinks In general I like their service and will continue to use it for now. There are still points of frustration for me, though, so I am considering moving to a new service. Pros It's easy to work with online.
My practice is 100% virtual, so it's nice to be able to work within the cloud and share with my team online. The customer service hotline is very responsive. Cons The user interface isn't particularly intuitive. Also, I pretty regularly run into issues that take FOREVER to figure out- they really need to improve their troubleshooting. Best program in the middle price point range of tax software I started using Pro Series 30 years ago. Before it became part of the Intuit family of products. Over the years I have worked on many software packages.
Having recently had the opportunity to use Pro Systems fx (a very high end product), for the vast majority of the returns the average practitioner would prepare, I would take Pro Series hands down. Pros Designed with the preparer in mind, intuitive navigation, clean linking with schedules and support screens, efficient e-filing, very good state return packages, variety of purchase package options, links with QuickBooks, Cons There are not a lot of cons in regard to the software. Heavy first year discounting leads to significant price increases in subsequent years.
